Greetings from the team at Alectio! We’ve been hard at work on our research, our platform, and a brand new website you’ll be seeing in the coming weeks. But before all that, we wanted to take a moment to let you know what we’ve been up to in the last month or so.
Here’s a collection of things we’ve been writing and some fun machine learning projects and resources that caught our eye this month:
A FEW THINGS WE WROTE
Why Amazon has an Alexa Problem
The bad news: Alexa is a privacy and data collection nightmare. The good news: you can learn a lot from Amazon’s mistakes.
Is Big Data Dragging Us Towards Another AI Winter?
In spite of their investment, some companies just aren’t seeing return on their machine learning projects. Is that because of their models or is it Big Data?
No, the World Doesn’t Need Another Synthetic Data Company
While synthetic data can be really valuable for some projects, it isn’t the magic bullet that some wish it was. We looked at where synthetic data fails and how to adapt when it does.
An Overview of Our Data Curation Product
Want to learn a little about how Alectio works? Here’s how we’re helping our customers train better models with less data.
A FEW THINGS WE LIKED
The State of the Art in ML Today
The folks at Papers with Code put together a great resource for state of the art tasks in machine learning. Well worth a perusal.
If you’ve read us before, it should come as no surprise that we’re big fans of this byline by Julia Di Russo. Bigger isn’t always better. Reliable and smart, however, are.
We’re Not Prepared for Deep Fakes
A smart look into the terrifying world of deep fakes and their potential to confuse us. “Deepfakes will be indistinguishable from real images before long” is not a sentence we particularly wanted to read.
We’ve covered AI art and AI music before but this was a bit of a surprise: an AI video game. Although, admittedly, this is stretching the definition of “video game” fairly thin.
That’s it for this month. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to this email or info@alectio.com if we can help you with anything. Stay safe and stay healthy.
